Xero connection

Read-only. It reads your receivables; it never changes your books.

Connect your Xero organisation and Duewick works out who owes what, from your own invoices and payments. It asks only for what it needs to read, and it reads the invoice again before every message it sends.

What it reads

  • Contacts

Your customers and the contact details held for them in Xero.
  • Invoices and credit notes

What was billed, when it falls due and what is still outstanding.
  • Payments

Payments, prepayments and overpayments, so a balance that changes is explained by money, not assumed.
  • Organisation settings

Details such as your organisation name and currency, to set the plan up correctly.

It also asks to stay connected (offline access) so it can keep your balances current without asking you to log in to Xero every time.

What it never does

  • It does not write to Xero: no edited invoices, no payments marked, no notes added to your books.
  • It does not ask for bank transactions, manual journals, payroll or your Xero files.
  • It does not treat a balance that went to zero as cash unless a payment explains it.

How the connection works

  1. Sign in, then authorise

Signing in with Xero and authorising access to your accounting data are two separate steps, each shown on Xero’s own consent screen.

  2. Choose the organisation

If your Xero login can see several organisations, you choose which one to connect.

  3. First read, then updates

The first read builds the plan. After that it keeps balances current, and it reads each invoice again just before following it up.

If the connection needs attention

Connections can be disconnected from Xero, or expire. When that happens you are told, and the balances you see are labelled with when they were last updated.
  • You can disconnect from your Duewick dashboard, or remove the app from inside Xero, at any time. Disconnecting from Duewick revokes the connection in Xero first.
  • Disconnecting does not delete your history in Duewick: the plan, conversations and evidence stay available.
  • Prefer not to connect? You can upload your invoices instead.
